WHo Should attend?

The course is open to students who hold the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines or can demonstrate the equivalent knowledge. It is strongly recommended that students complete the WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines before progressing to the Level 3 Award in Wines.

How will you benefit?

The WSET® Level 3 Award in Wines is designed to give a thorough understanding of the factors that account for the style, quality and price of the principal still, sparkling and fortified wines of the world. The qualification will assist those who are required to make professional evaluations of wines with regards to their style, quality and price. The qualification provides the in-depth product knowledge required to underping job skills and competencies, for example in product selection in the retail and hospitality sectors.Successful candidates will be able to describe the characteristics of the principal wines of the world and give information on the key factors influencing style, quality and price. They will consequently be in a position to advise management, to answer customer queries authoritatively, and to make informed selections of wines in a variety of situations.

We suggest that you order your course material as early as possible as you are expected to be familiar with the main textbook’s contents prior to the course start.

You will have access to our study support site during the duration of the course where you have access to sample questions and exercices to test your knowledge.

The course is organised so that each course day is one week apart from the next and each week you will be given “homework” to complete. You will be provided with feedback on your work as to improve your strategic approach to answering the short answer questions for the theory aspect of the examination.To gain the Level 3 qualification, candidates will be required to:Successfully complete:Unit 1

    • a multiple choice paper of 50 questions
    • a question paper requiring short written answers

Unit 2

    • an internally set and assessed blind tasting of two wines

Please note that you are expected to complete the course and the exam on the specified date. If you are unable to take the exam on the specified date, you must provide a medical certificate before the exam date. After submitting the medical certificate, you will have six months to take the exam (Level 3 – WSET® qualification in Wines).

For those of you who are employees or managers of a restaurant, hotel, bar or nightclub in one of the following cantons, it is possible to benefit from a subsidy towards the cost of the course.

The cantons with which we currently have an agreement are:

  • Fribourg
  • Geneva – it is possible to apply for “a grant or a loan” from the Canton
  • Jura
  • Neuchâtel
  • Valais – ritzy formation continue

For managers and employees of a restaurant, bar, hotel or nightclub in a Canton that does not offer a subsidy for continuing education, we offer a 10% discount on the price of the course at our main premises and also in the Canton of Ticino. Please contact us to find out more.
