Who should attend?

The WSET® Level 2 Award in Wines is intended for people who have little or no prior knowledge. It is suitable wherever a good level of wine knowledge is required to underpin job skills and competencies, for example in the customer service and sales functions of hospitality, retail and wholesale industries. It is also useful for those who have a general interest in wine and wish to broaden their knowledge.

How will you benefit?

Successful candidates will be able to describe and compare the styles of wines produced from internationally and regionally important grape varieties, interpret wine labels from the main wine-producing regions of the world and give basic guidance on appropriate selection and service, as well as understand the principles of wine tasting and evaluation.

Required prior knowledge for the course: – no prior knowledge is required. But an advantage, to have followed the Level 1 – Introduction to Wine and Swiss Wine course, or completed a Swiss restaurant service apprentiship. N.B. If you are not sure, contact us, so that we can help you choose the course level according to your needs and objectives.

This distance learning course follows the self-directed learning approach. This means that you are in charge of your learning and you need to follow the individual lessons in order, at the end of each “lesson” there will be a short “test” and you need to “pass” each of these tests in order to proceed to the next lesson.

Due to our candidates coming from different professions and with different working hours, there is no specific time to be online for a video conference, the individual lessons assist and guide you through the learning and there are prompts when to taste which wines.

You will also receive from us in a separate envelope a series of written open questions to assess your learning differently. The answers to our questions are available in your online module to the course for you to check as and when you are ready.

Should you prefer to take the examination in the comfort of your own home or office, it is possible, but we need to set this up with the WSET® separately and the cost is CHF 160.– on top of the course fee. (You will be charged separately for this service). Please noteThe Instructions for the Remote Invigilation are only available in the English language – you will be expected to film yourself prior and during the examination with your mobile phone.
