This course is for wine merchants, sommeliers, restaurant professionals, food distribution professionals and executives, buyers and sales personnel in the wine and spirit industry, professionals in the winegrowing industry, professionals in wine tourism, wine journalists, importers, wine trainers, students in the hotel and restaurant industry and in the luxury industry.

More generally, anyone seeking to gain further knowledge in the fiedl of recommending Champagne wines.

how will you benefit?

Successful candidates will be able to:

  • understand and interpret Champagne wine labels
  • describe and assess Champagne wines
  • know how to store and serve Champagne wines in optimal conditions
  • recommend a Champagne wine by ascertaining a customer’s expectations and requirements and then make a range of proposals according to their needs
  • know how to pair food and Champagne wines

to gain this qualification, candidates will be required to:

succesfully complete:

a theoretical assessment

    • thirty multiple-choice questions
    • practical case in the form of two short written answer questions

practical assessment

  • blind tasting of two Champagnes

N.B. The examination will be graded and the certificate will be issued by the Comité Champagne, in France

Included in the course price are: – the course material, the wine samples, the Champagne specialist examination, the teaching, access to the study support site for the duration of the course

Required prior learning for this course: – completion of the MOOC online course prior to the course start (some theory questions are based on the MOOC content). An advantage to have successfully completed the Level 2 – WSET® Award in Wines or the Level 3 – WSET® Award in Wines qualification.

For those of you who are employees or managers of a restaurant, hotel, bar or nightclub in one of the following cantons, it is possible to benefit from a subsidy towards the cost of the course.

  • Jura
  • Neuchâtel
  • Valais – ritzy continuing education
